Meet Maya Umar, co-founder at Blamorama Games. We had a little chat with her
So, tell us a bit more about yourself:
I am a film and media graduate from Malaysia who’s been living in Luleå since 2016, moving here after marrying my husband Tobias who I met while playing a video game together. 🙂 I work as a Video Producer for Blamorama Productions and co-founded its subsidiary Blamorama Games where we are developing the planet-saving adventure game Bumi: Next stop, Earth! I’m an avid gamer and especially enjoy co-op and party games. Other things that occupy my free time are good books, tv shows and testing new recipes.
How did you get in touch with the game industry?
Prior to moving here, Tobias and I dipped our toes into the growing gamification industry in Southeast Asia. We are believers of how games can be more than just entertainment, that it can also be a learning tool. So we took the idea of diversifying into gamification to Blamorama, and together formed Blamorama Games!
What are you up to at the moment?
At the moment I am hard at work on video projects as well as preparing Bumi for its planned soft launch later this year. Outside of work, I’ve been playing lots of Dead by Daylight and just finished binge-watching Bling Empire #guiltypleasure
So, what are your plans for the near future?
I can’t say much but the next phase of development for Bumi is gonna be super exciting and I am really looking forward to that!
Cat person vs. Dog person?
Winter vs. Summer
Explore space vs. Explore the marine world
Nature vs. City
Console vs. Mobile
Weakness: Cats – I love them but am sadly allergic.. but it doesn’t stop any cuddles when I see one!
Favorite game: Tough one, but my current fave is Dead by Daylight.
